Letter from Sutter to his son wishing him and his family a happy new year and mentioning an enclosed bill to the Dept. of State for $186.08 "U.S. Gold." Also, in response to his son's letter of Nov. 29, he comments that business prospects are very gloomy, but is trying to have a positive outlook. Finally, he asks when he will receive the statement of his son's financial affairs.
